Cavelossim Beach

Cavelossim, a town in the district of South Goa was the initial abode of the Shantadurga idol situated at Kawlem that is one among the biggest temples in Goa. This idol was transferred to Kawlem in Antruz Mhal (Ponda taluka) from Cavelossim at the time of the Portuguese inquest of Goa. It is said that Chattrapati Shahu donated funds to rebuild this Kawlem temple, among his other donations.

The Cavelossim town hosts a renowned beach in the southern tip of Salcete beach which begins from Majorda to the north and ends at Cavelossim in the southern direction. At the southern part of the Cavelossim town, you can see the river Sal emptying itself in the Arabian Sea.

Cavelossim Beach

There is a very beautiful beach in Cavelossim known as the Cavelossim beach, popular because of the contrasting white sand and black rocks. It is a peaceful and quiet beach that recently has witnessed many shacks increase rapidly in the area. The Cavelossim beach is located at a distance of about 25 minutes from Margao and is also conveniently very close to many famous resorts.

This beach is very clean and not crowded at all and so people from near and far visit this beach to spend a lovely time and get one with nature here. The beach is a must visit because of its beauty and many interesting activities such as hot air balloon and many others. There are plenty of shacks near the beach offering delicious food varieties and Newton's shack is one of the best here.

There are little umbrellas kept on this beach which you can rent including a lounge in order to get shade from the hot sun, since there are not many natural shades. This beach is marvelous with miles of beautiful white sands and clean and warm waters with small wave actions adding to the fun.

The ideal time to visit this beach would be in the early mornings before it gets too hot then and you can also go back to your resort quite early. This beach is secluded and serene and so an apt place for you to spend quality time with your loved ones. You can also just sit back or lie down in the warm sun and relax in the peaceful atmosphere of the beach.

This cozy and small beach would be filled with shacks during the season time and there would also be a great number of water sports available. Accessibility to the beach is narrow and so it is possible for you to miss it easily. Therefore, it is recommended that you enquire with the local people nearby about the way to the beach in case it gets confusing.

You can have long undisturbed walks in this beach especially because it is not very crowded. The water here is warm for you to enjoy a swim and the sunset views from here are simply fantastic. Do not visit during off seasons as you would not be able to find many beach shacks as very few shacks would operate for meals.

This amazing beach has not changed much after the Hippies visited it during the sixty's and it is still neat and calm. The only thing you must be cautious about is that there are a lot of dogs here and so you must keep your belongings out of their reach.

How to Reach Cavelossim

Cavelossim is located in the Salcete sub district and its beach has Carmona in the Northern direction and Mobor in the South. You can reach Cavelossim easily by travelling south along the National Highway, then turning left in Chinchinim and following that road. After this, you must take left from Orlim Main Road and then follow the road until you get to Cavelossim.

From Dabolim Airport in Mormugao, it would take you 60 minutes and from Panaji, it would take you around 80 minutes to go to Cavelossim. It would take you about 25 minutes from Margao Railway Station and 100 minutes from Tivim Railway Station.

One Day Trip in Cavelossim

If you plan for a one-day trip in Cavelossim, you can go sightseeing to the Cavelossim beach first thing in the early morning and then have your breakfast at the Blue Whale Beach Shack. Then, you can spend more at the beach and at noon, you can head towards Mama Mia for lunch followed by dessert at Joe’s River Cove.

You can spend your evenings by treating yourself to the beach water sports if you’re adventurous or by lying down and getting immersed in the gorgeous sunset views if you are a quiet person. Then, you can have your dinner at Shandong and if you want to party, the best place is Radisson Blu.

Accommodation is never a problem near the Cavelossim beach as there are numerous hotels and resorts lining up the beach. Starting from the happening Radisson Blu Resort to normal hotels and lodges, you would always have somewhere to stay near the Cavelossim beach.
